Somehow, in all of the trips we’ve taken to South Carolina, this was our first time coming to Charleston. Charleston has six beaches and a downtown with gorgeous Victorian style architecture. It’s an absolutely beautiful city.
We pulled into Charleston right at lunch time and wanted to find somewhere to eat that was close enough to walk to the beach. After a Google search we decided to try out The Crab Shack off of Folly Beach. The reviews were great on Google so we had high expectations and I must say, it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious, the restaurant itself has that fun, laid back beach atmosphere we love and the staff was absolutely amazing.

The walk to the beach from the restaurant was not bad at all, although it was hard at first to find parking. We ended up parking at a nearby lot, which we did have to pay for but it was reasonably priced if you plan to be there all day. There are tons of shops and restaurants within walking distance and of course, most importantly, it’s just a short walk to the beach.

After a long day at the beach we had worked up an appetite. One of the best things about this location was the pier. Not only is there a great restaurant right on the beach, there are public restrooms and showers for you to rinse off the sand and change into clothes before you head back home.
We enjoyed our dinner at the Pier 101 Restaurant & Bar. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside to enjoy our meal. It was a great experience minus all of the relentless seagulls.

After dinner we decided to walk down the pier to try to settle all of the food we’d consumed and check out the fishing. We didn’t fish this time but there are plenty of great places to do so along the pier. At the end of the pier there are a few more shops for all of your list minute beach necessities. The whole area was very well kept and we loved being able to have a clean space to change the little ones out of their sandy clothes.

If you’re looking for a spot on the beach where you can settle in for the day with the convenience of having everything within walking distance, Folly Beach in Charleston is the perfect spot!
